The Hungarian Numismatic Society organized a trip to Körmöcbánya in May 20 to 21, 1907. On the first day, participants learned about the history of the Körmöcbánya mint, and visited the museum's antiquities and coin collections. The next day they visited the mint, the gold mine and looked at the Belházy's coin collection. The trip was commemorated by Ede Telcs on this medal.

The 36 mm diameter coin was minted in silver and bronze. Only society members who took part in the excursion could buy the silver medal. According to available data, 31 silver and 45 bronze copies were ordered.
